"I created this course to share some of the knowledge I've gained over a 35 year career as a professional analyst, trader, and portfolio manager. I was the Head Trader at Northern Trust Co. in Chicago, and I quickly learned  how very wealthy clients made tons of money in the market. You'll find out what I learned in this course."

What's In The Course?

In this course I discuss the psychology of investing and how to get your head straight and tamp down the emotions that arise whenever the market goes through a downturn. I then teach you particular set of skills that are used by some of the best investors in the game. The idea is to provide you a framework and to set up a process that will take some of the guesswork out of the equation This will enable you to hit your return targets more consistently, while reducing the pain that comes with large drawdowns.

Investing is easy. Getting the results you need is hard.

The purveyors of financial advice and products have made it easy for anyone to invest, even if they only have a few hundred dollars. But, investing wisely and achieving success is much more difficult. This course will cover some of the obstacles that stand in the way of investors and show you how to overcome them.

We'll cover the complexity of financial markets, behavioral finance, required skill sets, investor types, the investment policy statement (IPS), and wrap things up with a discussion of the next steps you can take after you finish the course.

At the end of the course you will be offered the option of taking a short proficiency quiz to determine whether you may need to revisit the parts that need more study. You may, for example, have no trouble grasping how to write a proper investment plan but you are still unsure about the behavioral aspect of investing.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Gary Gunderson - Business owner

I had a feeling I was neglecting the whole planning part of investing. This course gave me a great template to work with. Thanks for putting this together in an easily digestible format.

Susan Wheeling - Marketing

I liked how the lessons re-emphasized some of the important points to drive home the main ideas.

Paul Koslowski - Teacher

I've been a teacher for 17 years and I really appreciated the way this course was structured. The quiz at the end was especially helpful for me.

I get it. You're probably thinking "I've been at this game long enough to know what I'm doing, so why take a course that will teach me what I already know?" But how much do you really know? And how much of what you know is just part of the bigger picture? You may know quite a lot, but you probably don't know everything that's in this course. As an example, do you know what your real investing track record is? By real, I mean after deposits and withdrawals and inflation are factored in. You would be surprised at how many of my students don't know the answer to this. But it's essential for tracking how well your current strategy is performing relative to your money goals. This course can really help in this regard.

Most people I speak with are what I call "Ad Hoc" investors, meaning that they view investing as a series of one-off transactions based on stock ideas they hear about from friends, family, or coworkers. This is a very inefficient way to approach investing.

Ad Hoc investing leaves a lot to be desired. It ignores the importance of planning and developing a strategy that will guide your decisions as you move through your investing journey.

This course takes a holistic approach, where we begin by laying a solid foundation and build up from there, layer by layer. Investing can be incredibly complicated, so it pays to have a procedure in place that guides your decisions.
